How our CV score works

CV Optimiser gives a role-fit score by comparing your CV with the job description you paste in, then looking for the signals that help recruiters and applicant tracking systems understand your fit.

CV Optimiser provides AI-assisted CV checks and practical suggestions. It does not guarantee interviews, job offers, ATS acceptance, or employer responses. Results are guidance only and should be reviewed before you apply.

The score is role-specific

A strong CV for one job can be weak for another. CV Optimiser does not give a generic CV grade. It checks how clearly your CV matches the job description you paste in.

  • Role title and responsibility alignment
  • Relevant skills, tools and experience
  • Evidence that your previous work fits the target role

What the visual score means

The score is a practical signal for how ready the CV looks for that role. Lower scores usually mean missing role evidence or important keywords. Higher scores mean the CV is easier to connect with the advert, but still needs human review before sending.

  • Red or amber scores show that the CV needs clearer alignment before applying
  • Green scores suggest stronger fit, but not a guaranteed interview
  • The written feedback matters as much as the number

What the score looks at

The score combines several signals rather than relying on one keyword count.

  • Keyword coverage: whether important role terms appear naturally in your CV
  • Relevance: whether your experience maps to the job requirements
  • Evidence: whether your bullet points show outcomes, scope and impact
  • Structure: whether the CV is easy to scan and understand
  • ATS readability: whether the content is likely to be parsed cleanly

Why missing keywords matter

Recruiters and ATS systems often look for the same language used in the job description. Missing keywords can make a relevant candidate look less suitable than they are.

CV Optimiser highlights missing terms so you can decide which ones honestly belong in your CV.

What the score does not mean

The score is a practical guide, not a promise of interviews or job offers. Hiring decisions also depend on experience level, location, salary, competition, timing and employer judgement.

  • It does not guarantee ATS acceptance
  • It does not replace human judgement
  • It should not be used to add skills or experience you do not have

How to use your result

Start with the priority fixes before rewriting the whole CV. The best improvements usually come from clearer role alignment, stronger evidence and natural keyword coverage.

  • Add relevant missing keywords where they truthfully fit
  • Rewrite vague bullets into measurable achievements
  • Move the most relevant experience closer to the top
  • Recheck the CV against the same job description after editing
